Some designs of cavity sliding doors may have a “ball bearing” type system that runs along the track. These doors are generally hollow core doors, however some can be solid core or compact board making them heavier.
Many internal sliding doors float along the outer surface and not in a cavity, running parallel to the wall. These doors are mounted at the top with rollers and a track. This roller and track mechanism is usually hidden underneath a pelmet.
